You should have at least 4 feet of space in front of and behind the head table for ease of traffic.

Depending on the size of your event and which items you would like to have available to your guests throughout the event timeframe, you may want to have more than one buffet: one buffet for appetizers and dessert, one for dinner, and one for drinks (alcoholic, non-alcoholic, coffee, tea, soft drinks). You should have at least 4 feet of space in front of and behind each buffet for ease of traffic.
Take into account whether you will have 8 or 10 people seated at each table, and also plan for at least 5 feet of space between the tables so people have room to get in and out of their chairs, and still have room to walk between tables.
If so, be sure to move tables that are directly in front of the amplifiers slightly further from the stage to protect your guests' hearing.
